Meals
We are very conscious that children need a well balanced diet to maintain their health and wellbeing. They are very excited to be able to plant and watch vegetables grow in the garden and to pick and sample them. The children are given the opportunity to experiment and decide on their own preferences. They are given the chance to explore a wide variety of food and also food from other cultures.
Our qualified cook prepares, cooks and serves our lunch time meal in an attractive form. The children sometimes surprise parents with the things they enjoy eating.
We believe that meal times should be social, happy times where skills can be developed. Staff eat meals with the children thus promoting the feeling of a family group, where manners and appropriate behaviour are encouraged.
"The setting has their own cook and a five weekly menu of nutritious meals and snacks are provided to help promote children's health. All staff work closely with parents and the cook to ensure children's complex dietary needs are fully met, protecting children's welfare." OFSTED 2009 www.ofsted.gov.uk
